Attack Speed 
calculates the speed of a character's Basic Attack. Attack speed affects both ground and air attacks but does not affect the delay from completing an attack combo. Attack speed can be increased with certain Weapons and Accessories and temporarily boosted with certain Consumables. Higher attacks speed will decrease the time between melee proc chances and increases the animation speed of proc attacks. Attack speed is currently most noticeable when attacking while not hitting an enemy. Attack animations slow down considerably when hitting an enemy, though higher attack speed does speed of the animations.
